I'm getting there, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, have done most of the heavy work now at the plot just got a little bit left to dig over. I've shovelled barrows and barrows of manure, dug and dug, covered and covered with black plastic, weeded and weeded and chittered on :-) The broad beans, onions and garlic which I sowed in January are now healthy looking after giving them a good weeding, the new bed edged with logs is for strawberries, the nine mounds of manure are for summer and winter squash. I did cheat and go to the garden centre for some leeklets and sprouts coz I felt I was far too late to sow them, got them planted in, sowed some parsnips (thanks Ady) , got beetroot carrots, rainbow chard, turnip and kohl rabi sown oh and a row of peas. Just gotta plant some very late potatoes now :-)
Oh and I've got a greenhouse making its way to my plot soon. Even got the manpower to shift it for me and another lotty neighbour is gonna cut me some glass to replace the broken panes. So all in all I've got back from the plot feeling much happier, it was sooooooooooooooooooo daunting when I first went down and looked at it but now it seems alot more manageable. Granted I've covered some big areas but hopefully over winter I hope to plonk in some more raised beds and alteast with them covered I don't have to worry bout the weeds and it gives me more time to get cracking at home. Speaking of the garden at home it is becoming a hooooooooooooooooge bramble patch down one side!!!!!!!! I'm not doing much work on that area at the mo, worse case scenario is I'll have tonnes of fruit to make wine with in September. The important part of the garden is the area I look out on from the house, the rest will have to wait.
I seem to be mastering the art of mowing the lawn, have never used a lawnmower til a fortnight ago lololololol. I didn't get on very well with the strimmer though :-) I did recover the cold frame at home from the brambles though, it was not only full of brambles but surrounded by them too!!! anyway its clear now and all sparkly clean and full of calendula, cosmos, french marigolds which I'm hardening off and a cucumber. So I'm gonna pootle off outside now and do some pootling in the garden for the rest of the day :-)
take care
xx
